Our newest opportunity is for a talented Performance Specialist to join our award-winning team based in Alkhobar.
This position is responsible for ensuring that the requirements of the contract documents are implemented and maintained throughout the contract period and to assist in the review of contractual notices of claims.
Responsibilities:
Our newest opportunity is for an experienced Planning Engineer to join the Project Controls team for a high-profile arena construction project in, Riyadh. This is a key role in the supervision/PMC or construction management team supporting the delivery of one of Vision 2030’s flagship giga-projects.
The Planning Engineer will develop, maintain, and monitor comprehensive project schedules using Primavera P6. You will provide critical planning and controls support to the Project Director, Resident Engineer, and Project Management team, ensuring the arena (including civil, structural, architectural, MEP, and fit-out elements) is delivered on time, within budget, and in coordination with multiple packages and stakeholders.

1. Schedule Development & Maintenance
  • Developing, updating, and maintaining detailed baseline and revised project schedules using Primavera P6 across the full project lifecycle, including design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.
  • Incorporating all work packages, interfaces, milestones, resources, and dependencies specific to arena construction, including structural steel erection, seating bowl, roof systems, concourses, MEP integration, fit-out, and external works.
  • Performing resource loading, leveling, and optimization, while developing recovery and acceleration plans as required.
  • Preparing 3-week and 90-day look-ahead schedules and integrating subcontractor programmes.
2. Progress Monitoring & Analysis
  • Monitoring and tracking actual progress against the baseline on a weekly and monthly basis through site data collection, progress measurement, and schedule updates.
  • Analyzing schedule variances, critical path impacts, and potential delays, while preparing what-if scenarios, mitigation strategies, and Extension of Time (EOT) support documentation.
  • Conducting delay analyses, including time impact and windows analyses, and supporting claims evaluations for the Engineer/PMC.
  • Integrating planning activities with cost control processes, including S-curves, cash flow forecasts, and risk management frameworks.
3. Reporting & Communication
  • Preparing high-quality weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc planning reports, dashboards, and presentations for the Project Director, Engineer, Client (Qiddiya Investment Company), and other key stakeholders.
  • Attending progress meetings, coordination meetings, and workshops, while presenting schedule updates, findings, and recommendations.
  • Maintaining accurate planning records, baseline logs, and audit trails to ensure contractual compliance with FIDIC or similar contract frameworks.
4. Coordination & Interface Management
  • Coordinating with Civil, Structural, MEP, and Architectural disciplines, package contractors, consultants, and authorities to ensure realistic and integrated scheduling.
  • Managing interfaces between multiple contracts and work packages typical of Qiddiya giga-project environments.
  • Supporting the project risk register by identifying, assessing, and tracking schedule-related risks and opportunities.
5. Project Controls Support
  • Assisting in budget phasing, earned value management (EVM), and performance measurement activities.
  • Providing planning input to variation orders, claims, and commercial evaluations.
  • Contributing to handover planning, commissioning schedules, and defects liability period activities to ensure the arena’s operational readiness.
6. Continuous Improvement
  • Implementing project planning and controls best practices aligned with international standards and KSA giga-project requirements.
  • Training and mentoring junior planning staff where applicable.
  • Leveraging digital tools such as Primavera Cloud, Power BI, and BIM integration to enhance project visibility, reporting, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date 8–12+ years of relevant experience in planning/scheduling for large-scale construction projects, with at least 5 years on mega-projects (stadiums, arenas, sports venues, infrastructure, or giga-projects in KSA/GCC highly preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or a related field
  • Expert-level proficiency in Oracle Primavera P6 (mandatory; latest versions).
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Project, Excel (advanced), Power BI, and MS Office.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC contracts, project controls best practices, and delay analysis methodologies.
  • Experience with resource/cost-loaded schedules and Earned Value Management.
Other Requirements
  • Proven track record on complex, fast-track projects with multiple interfaces.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (English essential; Arabic advantageous).
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, site-based environment under pressure.
  • Knowledge of Saudi regulations, Vision 2030 delivery standards, and arena-specific construction sequencing is a strong advantage.
Desirable Certifications
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent.
  • Primavera P6 certification or advanced training.
  • Planning/Scheduling certifications (e.g., from AACE, PMI-SP).
  • HSE awareness certification.
