Planning Engineer (Fitout)

1. Project Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop detailed project schedules using tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Break down scope into WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) for accurate planning.
  • Define activity durations, sequencing, dependencies, and milestones.
  • Prepare baseline programs and ensure they align with contract requirements.

2. Coordination & Interface Management

  • Coordinate with design teams, MEP, civil, joinery, and specialist subcontractors.
  • Ensure all shop drawings, material approvals, and long‑lead items are planned and tracked.
  • Identify interface issues between trades and propose solutions early.

3. Progress Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track site progress against the baseline schedule.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and look‑ahead programs.
  • Conduct delay analysis and highlight risks or deviations.
  • Update schedules with actual progress and forecast completion dates.

4. Resource & Procurement Planning

  • Plan manpower, materials, and equipment requirements for each activity.
  • Coordinate procurement schedules with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Monitor delivery timelines for joinery, furniture, fixtures, and specialized fit‑out materials.

5. Fitout Execution Support

  • Support site teams with sequencing and methodology for fitout works.
  • Ensure planning aligns with site constraints, access, and logistics.
  • Assist in preparing method statements and installation plans.

6. Risk & Delay Management

  • Identify potential delays (design changes, approvals, material shortages).
  • Propose mitigation strategies and recovery schedules.
  • Perform delay impact assessments (EOT analysis when required).

7. Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain planning documentation, logs, and schedule revisions.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, authority regulations, and project specifications.
  • Support claims, variations, and commercial submissions with planning evidence.

8. Client & Stakeholder Communication

  • Attend progress meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Present schedule updates, constraints, and recovery plans.
  • Coordinate approvals and ensure alignment with client expectations.
