Salary: £17.00 per hour

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm

J Keane Plant Hire Ltd is a well-established heavy plant and machinery hire company operating across Cornwall.

Due to continued growth and the opening of our new Launceston depot, we are looking to recruit an experienced and reliable Plant Fitter to join our team. The successful candidate will work from either our Truro or Launceston depot and will be required to travel across Cornwall as needed. The role involves working on a wide range of heavy plant and machinery, carrying out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs both in the workshop and on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

• Service, maintain and repair heavy plant machinery and equipment
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults efficiently
• Carry out inspections and preventative maintenance
• Attend breakdowns on customer sites when required
• Prepare machinery for hire and ensure equipment is maintained to a high standard
• Complete job sheets and maintenance records accurately using the workshop app
• Work safely and comply with company health and safety procedures
• Travel between depots and customer sites across Cornwall as required
• Occasionally assist with the maintenance and repair of company vans and HGVs/lorries

Machinery Worked On:

• Excavators
• Dumpers
• Rollers
• Telehandlers
• Loading shovels
• Other heavy plant and construction equipment
• Company vans and HGV (on occasion)

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Plant Fitter, Plant Mechanic or similar role
• Good knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical systems
• Experience working on vans, HGVs or lorries would be advantageous
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Full UK driving licence
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Flexible and reliable approach to work

Desirable:

• NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in Plant Maintenance or Mechanical Engineering
• Welding or fabrication experience
