PLANT OPERATOR

Minimum Qualification

BSc in Chemical Engineering

Diploma holders with strong chemical plant experience may be considered

1–3 years of hands-on experience in a chemical or process plant environment

Key Responsibilities

Operate and monitor chemical plant equipment including reactors, pumps, heat exchangers, distillation columns, storage tanks, and utilities

Control process parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow rate, and levels

Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for startup, shutdown, and normal operations

Conduct routine field inspections and identify abnormalities or leaks

Record operational data, production logs, and shift reports

Assist during maintenance activities, troubleshooting, and plant upsets

Ensure strict compliance with HSE, MSDS, and permit-to-work systems

Coordinate with production, maintenance, and quality teams

Support continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives

Technical Skills Required

Basic understanding of chemical process operations

Familiarity with PFDs & P&IDs

Knowledge of process safety, chemical handling, and emergency response

Understanding of utilities (boilers, compressors, cooling systems) is a plus
