PMC Project Director

About the Role

The PMC Project Director will provide strategic leadership and direction for large scale offshore oil & gas projects, ensuring successful delivery in alignment with client objectives, budget, timeline, and regulatory requirements. This role will oversee the full project portfolio or mega project scope, working closely with stakeholders at all levels to ensure integrated, safe, and efficient execution. This is a high visibility, high impact role, requiring exceptional leadership, commercial acumen, and deep technical expertise in offshore oil & gas development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide executive oversight for the entire project lifecycle-from concept development through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Lead and direct PMC teams overseeing multi billion dollar offshore oil & gas projects, including offshore platforms, subsea systems, pipelines, and associated infrastructure.
• Act as the primary point of contact with the client's executive leadership, government entities, and other high level stakeholders.
• Develop strategic execution plans and align all project stakeholders to ensure delivery against defined KPIs, safety, quality, cost, and schedule targets.
• Manage project governance, reporting, and decision making frameworks to maintain alignment with project objectives and stakeholder expectations.
• Oversee risk management strategies, ensuring proactive identification and mitigation of critical risks.
• Provide leadership to project managers, engineering leads, and construction teams to ensure coordination and consistency across all project components.
• Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Drive performance improvement, innovation, and best practices across all project phases.
• Represent the PMC organization in board level and ministerial meetings as needed.

Key Requirements

• 20+ years of experience in project leadership roles within the oil and gas industry, with a strong focus on offshore megaprojects.
• Proven track record in directing large scale, complex projects valued at over $1 billion USD.
• Deep expertise in offshore oil & gas infrastructure, including platforms, subsea systems, offshore construction, and commissioning.
• Strong experience working in a PMC (Project Management Consultant) capacity, interfacing with major IOCs/NOCs.
• Demonstrated capability in leading multi disciplinary teams, managing EPC contractors, and maintaining alignment with client goals.
• Previous experience in the UAE, particularly Abu Dhabi, or other GCC countries is highly preferred.
• PMP or equivalent Project Management certification; additional executive leadership training or MBA is a plus.
• Outstanding leadership, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
• Fluent in English; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
