The Town of Leesburg Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Detective within the Criminal Investigations Section (CIS). Detectives are responsible for the prevention, detection, investigation, and prosecution of criminal violations related to crimes of persons and property in the Town of Leesburg. Work involves processing crime scenes, conducting interviews (witnesses/victims/suspects), preparing affidavits for search warrants, making arrests, the completion of investigative police reports and case files, the presentation of criminal cases to prosecutors, and testifying in court.Detectives are required to remain flexible in working hours and are required to be on a rotational on-call status. Detectives are assigned cases by supervisory personnel and are expected to work efficiently with little supervision and maintain communication with both victims of crime and supervisory personnel to update progress and developments regarding assigned cases.
