Municipal law enforcement is an important and rewarding career field with many opportunities for growth and development. The mission of the City of Dublin's Police Internship Program is to create an opportunity for individuals interested in a career in law enforcement, public safety and/or criminal justice to gain relevant experience while working side-by-side with industry professionals. This program will assist the successful candidate in their academic pursuits through training and career development to prepare them to join the work force.**Preference will be given to candidates who include a resume and cover letter with their application. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The goal of the Police Internship is for the Intern to learn about the City of Dublin Police Department and how it operates in terms of administration, investigations and patrol. Tasks may be assigned to the Intern at the discretion of the Operations Bureau Commander, Internship Sergeant, or other department supervisor and may be selected based on the interests of the Intern. It is the Intern's responsibility to take ownership of the tasks and complete them with a focus on quality. Below are examples of tasks that may be covered by the Intern and Mentor: Work on an internship projectGain knowledge of agency Core Values, Mission, Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics policiesEducation on relevant case lawEducation of agency RTR, less lethal weapons and pursuit policiesRide-alongsProperty impoundingRecords departmentTactics scenariosTicket fillingUnits to shadow: Community Impact Unit (CIU), Detective Bureau, School Resource Officer Program, Prosecutor's Office, Northwest Regional Communications Center (NRECC), Public Safety Liaison Coordinator, Business District Unit (BDU), Drone and the Delaware Tactics Unit.

The Intern shall: Respect and follow the directions of their mentor when engaged in department activitiesFollow the agency's Code of Conduct and Core Values policiesAsk questions and actively engage in exercises and discussions in order to take advantage of this opportunityPresent one's self in a professional manner, with the "uniform" depending on the needs/tasks of the dayRemain flexible and adapt to any last minute changes in daily activitiesMaintain confidentiality as documented in the Confidentiality Agreement required for participating in the Internship ProgramComply with all requirements set forth by the Intern's school (if applicable) and maintain all necessary paperworkAdhere to the attendance requirements set forth in the Internship ProgramCommit to the demanding and structured schedule created to make these opportunities possible
