The Organizational Integrity Bureau (OIB) is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Police Research Analyst. This position will be assigned to the Continuous Improvement Unit and is dedicated to improving internal accountability and identifying opportunities for growth and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities for this role include and are not limited to:

  • Best practice research, business and data analysis.
  • Process improvement.
  • Contributing to the development of policy, training curriculum, and compliance metrics.
  • Conducting detailed data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support department compliance objectives.
  • Managing and developing compliance frameworks and data dashboards.
  • Creating and analyzing reports for different units within the bureau.
  • Presenting data metrics for various audiences.
  • Managing data-related projects.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Documented ability to clean, organize, and transform raw data into accurate, usable analytical products.
  • Ability to translate analytical findings into clear, concise written reports, charts, dashboards, and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences in support of executive decision-making and evidence-based policing strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision making.
  • Dependability and the ability to work well with others.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with data visualization and/or infographic software.

SALARY


Pay Range: $72,966.40 to $97,780.80 annually.

Hiring Range: $72.966.40 to $84,468.80 annually.

Pay Range Explanation:

  • Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
  • Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

Internal Only: Please understand that this is pay grade 055. If selected, your salary offer will be based on the applicable promotion or demotion worksheet in accordance with the City Pay Ordinance.

  • Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
  • Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
  • Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
  • When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of administrative experience.
  • One year of experience in governmental research.
  • Bachelor's degree in public or business administration or a related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
  • All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
  • Positions in the Police Department must meet the background standards that are appropriate to non-sworn positions. The general factors for disqualification are listed here.
  • Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Experience validating data quality and ensuring the integrity and reliability of analytical outputs.
  • Demonstrated experience extracting complex datasets from records management systems, computer-aided dispatch systems, or similar public-safety databases.
  • Experience interpreting statistical results and identifying trends, patterns, and anomalies relevant to operational or administrative decision-making.
