General Function
The Postdoctoral Research Associate is a staff member who is appointed for a limited period of time to pursue advanced training by assisting a faculty member in specific research.

Description of Primary Duties
This is a grant-funded position with a current limit of 2 years 9 months with progress reviewed after one year.
Investigate parameters of stellar structure and evolution to improve the match between models and observations, particularly related to asteroseismology, using evolutionary models, expected to be MESA and GYRE. The successful candidate is also expected to disseminate results in appropriate journals and conferences and supervise undergraduate students in project-related research. It is expected that the Postdoctoral Research Associate is a specialist with experience in the physics of stellar structure pertaining to hot compact (subdwarf B) stars and will receive additional on-the-job training as needed for other required activities (e.g., supervising students and possibly outreach and teaching activities) The candidate will also include and advise undergraduate research projects related to the grant and should be available to participate in outreach activities. This position will include travel to multiple national and international meetings/conferences.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Education: A doctorate is required.
Skills: Evidence of effective written and verbal communication skills are required.

Additional Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Astrophysics or Physics is required.
Ability to work and live in Missouri in the United States.
Familiarity with the physics of hot compact stars expected
Familiarity with running stellar structure and/or evolution code within the Linux or Mac OS is expected
Knowledge of Python programming is also expected.
The candidates must have an excellent research record, commensurate with the duration of their research career.
Applicants with familiarity of stellar evolution, stellar evolution codes, evolved stars (particularly diffusion), asteroseismology, and/or MESA/GYRE are particularly well-matched to this position.
