Job Description:

  • Design & Modeling: Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for new and existing genset models, with a focus on canopies (enclosures), baseframes, and overall genset layout creation.
  • 3D/2D CAD: Utilize Creo as the primary CAD software to create precise 3D models, detailed engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions.
  • Component Selection: Lead the technical selection and specification of key genset components, including but not limited to radiators, fuel tanks, exhaust systems, vibration isolators, and electrical control panel mounting.
  • Design Analysis: Perform necessary engineering calculations (e.g., structural analysis, airflow, acoustic consideration) to ensure design feasibility, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Prototyping & Testing Support: Work closely with the manufacturing and testing teams during the prototyping and validation phases, providing technical support and implementing necessary design modifications based on test results.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including design change requests (DCRs), technical specifications, and design validation reports.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Electrical, Manufacturing, Purchasing) to ensure the designs meet cost, quality, and production requirements.
  • Experience: 4 to 6 years of hands-on mechanical design engineering experience, specifically in the design and development of generator sets (gensets).
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • CAD Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency in Creo (Pro/ENGINEER) is mandatory, with a strong portfolio in creating complex sheet metal designs (canopies), structural weldments (baseframes), and large assembly layouts.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of genset architecture, manufacturing processes (welding, sheet metal fabrication), and industry standards (e.g., ISO, CE, noise reduction norms).
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Familiarity with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) or finite element analysis (FEA) for basic design verification.
  • Knowledge of acoustic treatment and noise mitigation strategies for genset enclosures.
