Role Overview
The Production Manager – Infrastructure will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the infrastructure requirements of events and exhibitions. This includes staging, rigging, trussing, scaffolding, seating, flooring, temporary structures, power distribution, and site logistics. The role requires strong technical expertise, excellent project management skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams and vendors to deliver world-class event infrastructure.
Key ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure & Technical Oversight
- Manage the design, planning, and execution of event infrastructure including staging, truss, rigging, scaffolding, seating, and temporary structures.
- Coordinate power requirements, cabling, and technical infrastructure across AV, lighting, and special effects departments.
- Conduct detailed site visits and venue surveys, ensuring feasibility and compliance with safety standards.
- Liaise with design and creative teams to translate concepts into technically viable solutions.
Project Management
- Develop and manage detailed project timelines, installation schedules, and manpower deployment plans.
- Supervise on-site production activities during build-up, show days, and dismantling.
- Ensure all infrastructure deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Identify risks and develop contingency plans for infrastructure-related challenges.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Source, evaluate, and manage subcontractors and suppliers for infrastructure services.
- Negotiate with vendors for cost-effective solutions without compromising safety or quality.
- Coordinate with internal teams (AV, lighting, video, scenic, logistics) to align infrastructure requirements.
- Serve as the point of contact for venue authorities, ensuring compliance with regulations and permits.
Budgeting & Reporting
- Prepare BOQs, cost estimates, and infrastructure budgets for proposals and confirmed projects.
- Monitor project expenditures and provide regular updates to management.
- Conduct post-event evaluations, highlighting successes, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all infrastructure installations comply with HSE guidelines and statutory regulations.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings for crew and subcontractors.
- Monitor on-site activities to ensure safe work practices and adherence to structural load limits.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Event Production, or related field.
- 5–8 years of experience in infrastructure/production management within the events & exhibitions industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of staging, rigging, scaffolding, power distribution, and temporary event structures.
- Proven experience in vendor management, site operations, and large-scale event delivery.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, MS Project, or similar tools.
- Certification in HSE / NEBOSH / OSHA (preferred).
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
