Stony Creek Preschool is looking for passionate and dedicated individuals for our Lead Pre-K Teaching positions for our Ann Arbor and Milan Centers. The ideal candidates will be able to develop, lead, and implement engaging lessons, as well as, foster a nurturing environment for children. As a Lead Teacher, you will also collaborate with families, and staff to promote additional growth and learning experiences for our young learners.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans based on children’s interests and aligned with early childhood standards, including; literacy, math, music/movement, social-emotional skills and other areas associated with Creative Curriculum
  • Manage classrooms to create a safe, inclusive and stimulating environment forchildren from diverse backgrounds
  • Collaborate with families to communicate progress, address concerns and support child welfare initiatives, including two conferences a year
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student progress through assessment and observations
  • Supervise classroom assistants, guide them in best practices, check-in with afternoon activities and support their growth as early childhood professionals
  • Prior classroom experience working with children, particularly in a preschool setting
  • Knowledge of child development milestones and best practices in preschool education
  • Strong communication skills with families and colleagues that demonstrates professionalism, tact and dignity

Qualifications

  • GSRP experience preferred, but not required
  • Bachelor’s in Early Childhood from an accredited college or university
  • Ability to pass State of Michigan Childcare Background Check
  • Proficient knowledge of computers
  • Strong professional skills including, but not limited to professional appearance, tact, punctuality and dependability
  • Strong interpersonal skills to be able to work cooperatively with supervisors, colleagues and teaching assistants
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups verbally and in writing
  • Establish positive and productive working relationships with families/caregivers while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Ability to work alone or within a team environment
  • Represent Stony Creek in a professional manner at all times in and out of school, including social media.

Work hours are scheduled Monday through Friday with specific hours determined by the needs of our program.
