Technical Competencies –

Security Systems, ELV Presales Engineer

· Strong technical knowledge of electronic security and ELV systems, including CCTV (IP/analog), Video Management Systems (VMS), Access Control Systems (ACS), intrusion/burglar alarm, intercom/VOIP door phones, gates/turnstiles/barriers, and related sensors and field devices.

· Proven experience interpreting RFPs, drawings, and specifications and translate them into complete security/ELV solutions and system architectures: camera layouts, access control door schedules, zoning, coverage studies, device locations, and I/O mapping.

· Proficiency in preparing detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and Bills of Materials (BoMs) for security and ELV systems (cameras, controllers, panels, readers, locks, detectors, switches, servers, storage, workstations, network equipment, cabling and accessories), including accurate quantity take‑off from drawings.

· Familiarity with relevant standards, guidelines, and authority requirements for security and ELV (e.g., local Ministry/Police security standards, data retention rules, basic electrical/low‑voltage and life‑safety codes) and ability to design solutions that comply with them.

· Understanding of security system design principles such as field of view and lens selection, resolution and bitrate vs. storage calculations, door hardware selection (fail‑safe/fail‑secure), anti‑pass back, alarm zoning, and integration with third‑party systems (BMS, fire alarm, elevators, parking, PSIM, etc.).

· Experience conducting or supporting site surveys and security risk/coverage assessments, documenting existing conditions, recommended camera/reader locations, cable routes, equipment room requirements, and feeding this into design and costing.

· Ability to design and size backend infrastructure for security systems (VMS/ACS servers, storage arrays, client workstations, management networks, PoE switching, UPS requirements), in coordination with ICT and data center teams where needed.

· Competence in selecting and positioning suitable products and platforms from leading security vendors (VMS, ACS, intrusion, intercom, etc.), including understanding of licensing models, feature tiers, and how they impact solution cost and proposal positioning.

· Capability to develop cost‑effective, scalable, and standards‑compliant solutions, including value‑engineered alternatives (camera types/quantities, recording retention options, centralized vs. edge storage, phased deployment strategies) while preserving risk and coverage objectives.

· Experience reviewing and technically evaluating quotations from security/ELV subcontractors and suppliers, checking scope coverage, material equivalence, compliance with client specifications and authority standards, and identifying any gaps or overlaps.

· Strong grasp of Security systems, ELV pricing and cost structures (CAPEX/OPEX, licensing models, maintenance, support contracts, managed services) to support quotation development and commercial optimization with the sales team.

· Proficiency with standard design and productivity tools (e.g., Visio or equivalent for diagrams, Excel for BoMs and cost models, and office tools for proposal content and presentations).
