Prep Cook

Position Summary: The Prep Cook will be responsible for working as part of a team on single stations in the kitchen and should possess intermediary culinary skills. Cooks are accountable for delivering the same quality of product every time ending in a positive guest experience.

Detailed Description:

• Maintain thorough knowledge of menus and the preparation required for cooking according to hotel standards.
• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.).
• Prepare all food items according to standard recipes and as specified on guest check and to ensure consistency of product and achieve high guest satisfaction.
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served.
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen.
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
• Check quality of ingredients.
• Monitor and stock when ingredients when necessary.
• Maintain quality standards.
• Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen facilities and equipment.
• Abide by all organizational policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of professional cooking experience, which includes cooking in a high-volume restaurant operation; or a combination of professional culinary work experience and formal culinary training
• Must have good knife skills
• A true desire to exceed guest expectations in a fast-paced customer service environment
• Ability to communicate professionally
• Basic understanding of kitchen operations
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift, push and carry moderate amounts of weight
• Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
