Preschool Teacher - Full Time

Job Overview
Grace Neighborhood Nursery School is a small, nonprofit preschool that is licensed by the State of Minnesota, and has been serving the South Minneapolis community for 65 years. We are seeking a passionate and energetic Preschool Teacher to join our vibrant early childhood education team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will create a nurturing and stimulating environment where young children can explore, learn, and grow. Your enthusiasm for early childhood development and dedication to fostering a positive classroom atmosphere will inspire young learners to reach their full potential. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children's lives while working in a supportive and dynamic setting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging curriculum that promotes social and emotional development, literacy, math, scientific thinking, creativity and motor development - all tailored to preschool-aged children.
  • Establish a warm, supportive classroom community where children grow in their ability to relate to their peers and manage their own behavior.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively through proactive behavior management strategies using the "Encouraging Classroom" behavior guidance approach.
  • Support children’s developmental milestones by applying knowledge of childhood development principles in your teaching, when writing individual goals for children and when planning curriculum to support children's growth and development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and specialists to ensure each child's individual needs are met, including those requiring special education or additional supports, employing early intervention strategies as needed.
  • Track children's progress in all areas of development, using the Work Sampling Assessment Tool as a guide.
  • Write up and communicate children's progress to parents twice per year at parent conferences in October and February.
  • Maintain accurate records of curriculum plans, student progress, and classroom activities in accordance with our licensing requirements.

Requirements

  • A strong understanding of child development and early childhood education principles.
  • Familiarity with child-centered teaching philosophies and evidence of enjoying young children.
  • Demonstrated expertise in planning and implementing topical, developmentally appropriate, culturally relevant curriculum on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
  • Communicate curriculum plans and classroom happenings to parents on a weekly or bi-weekly basis through Bright Wheel posts and newsletters, emails, phone calls and/or other regular communications.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, and team members.
  • Ability to manage classroom activities efficiently while ensuring child welfare and safety at all times.
  • Highly desirable and preferred: A college degree (BS/BA or MS/MA) and 5+ years of early childhood teaching experience with 2-5 year olds. Join us in shaping the future by inspiring young minds!
