Are you a hands-on engineering leader who thrives on solving complex challenges, driving innovation, and making a measurable impact on factory performance? As a Principal Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (AME) at GE Appliances, you’ll play a critical role in bringing cutting-edge products to market, improving plant productivity, and optimizing manufacturing processes that support our world-class laundry product line.

In this senior-level role, you’ll lead high-impact capital equipment projects, champion lean manufacturing principles, and serve as the vital link between New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and factory operations. Your expertise will ensure that every new process and piece of equipment not only meets budget and schedule targets but also delivers exceptional quality, reliability, and operator safety.

How You'll Create Possibilities
  • Lead Manufacturing Innovation: Plan, develop, and execute capital equipment and high-volume manufacturing process projects—from early supplier engagement to installation and qualification—ensuring maximum efficiency and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Drive Lean Excellence: Apply lean manufacturing, 3P, and ergonomic design to optimize equipment and workstation layouts, material flow, and standard work processes across the value stream.
  • Ensure Safety & Compliance: Guarantee all equipment complies with industry, environmental, and EHS standards, applying Human Organizational Performance (HOP) principles to protect and empower operators.
  • Collaborate & Influence: Partner with cross-functional teams—including factory operations, design engineers, and critical process leaders—to ensure Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) and robust Manufacturing Control Plans (MCP) are integrated.
  • Mentor & Elevate: Share knowledge, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to developing innovative processes and best practices that strengthen the AME organization.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline OR equivalent hands-on experience in technical/manufacturing capabilities.
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing equipment and process development.
  • Proven success in managing capital equipment projects, including supplier selection, installation, and qualification.
  • Expertise in Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to engage with diverse teams, from shop floor operators to senior management.
  • A track record of meeting deadlines and budgets for construction and equipment projects.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Horizontal Axis Washer platforms is a plus.
  • Experience in construction, renovation, or facility projects.
  • Six Sigma certification and Lean process improvement expertise.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Scheduler (or equivalent), and AutoCAD.
  • Prior involvement in New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
