Print Workflow Coordinator

General Definition of Work

The Print Workflow Coordinator under general supervision, performs complex work with minimal decision-making discretion related to digital file preparation and production workflow as well as managing the Graphic Production Center's digital storefront, including monitoring incoming service requests and executing technical pre-flight procedures to ensure all files meet print readiness standards. Employee performs district-level work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the Creative Services Manager.

Place of Work

The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.


Essential Functions

  • Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
  • Administer web-based storefront functionality and requests for services (client facing)
  • Perform advanced technical tasks and preflight functions as needed to ensure print readiness of customer-based files
  • Identify and correct client submitted files ensuring technical specifications are met (such as file format, color, fonts, image resolution, etc.)
  • Proof files to ensure accuracy and quality before final production
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure smooth workflow
  • Create and maintain electronic catalogs of customer files
  • Provide in-house technical support (hardware and software)
  • Provide consistent, high quality customer service and offer solutions
  • Perform related work as assigned or required

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of public schools
  • Knowledge of county and school board policies, procedures, and standards
  • Knowledge of and experience in graphic arts within the printing industry
  • Knowledge of web-based submission and management information software
  • Knowledge of digital workflow within a print facility
  • Skilled in attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
  • Skilled in computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Suite and Adobe Creative Suites
  • Ability to perform professional level graphic design, preflight functions, and manipulation of client submitted files
  • Ability to maintain professional and emotional control under stress
  • Ability to reflect appropriate response to situations, while maintaining a professional and personal demeanor
  • Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment or software related to business needs
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to identify full color spectrum
  • Ability to prioritize, assign, and monitor progress of multiple projects
  • Ability to diagnose hardware, software and Input/Output (I/O) issues, and to facilitate corrections when needed
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical computations
  • Ability to reason, make judgments, and maintain effective working relationships

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Specialized course work in graphic arts preferred
  • Associates degree in graphic arts preferred
  • At least four (4) years of related experience required
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Special Requirements

  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license or ability to provide own transportation
  • Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
