PRN Family Nurse Practitioner

  • Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patients
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs
  • Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
  • Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals
  • Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools
  • Consults with healthcare professionals
  • Trains patients and families on managing illnesses or injuries and disease prevention
  • Helps provide primary care to patients
  • Performs physical exams and patient observations
  • Records patient medical histories and symptoms
  • Creates patient care plans and contribute to existing plans
  • Orders, administers and analyzes diagnostic tests
  • Diagnose health issues
  • Detects changes in a patient’s health and change treatment plans as necessary
  • Administers medicines and treatments
  • Evaluates responses to treatments and medications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess minimum one year experience working as a nurse practitioner
  • Master’s degree from an accredited nursing program
  • Must have RN licensure in the state where employed or a compact party state and be board certified by either ANCC or AANP
  • Must have prescriptive authorization
  • APN authorization in the state where employed to practice in Family Health by the Board of Nurse Examiners
  • Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of computer-based health data management programs and information systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in verbal and written form, with medical partners at various levels, patients, family members, and physicians
  • Sound understanding of all federal and state regulations including HIPAA and OSHA
  • Experience providing primary care as a family nurse practitioner

Job Types: Part-time, PRN

Pay: From $46.00 per hour
