Pro Bono Counsel

Quarles is seeking an attorney to join the Pro Bono team as Pro Bono Counsel in the Milwaukee office. The ideal candidate has 7+ years of practice experience in a legal services and/or law firm environment, and a demonstrated commitment to pro bono work and public service. Applicants should have experience training and supervising attorneys, working with diverse client populations, and the ability to develop and manage projects from conception to completion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and design pro bono projects aligned with firm goals and community needs.
• Staff and supervise pro bono matters, ensuring appropriate expertise and oversight.
• Organize clinic participation opportunities and manage large-scale research projects.
• Connect attorneys with resources for pro bono matters as appropriate, including training and precedential materials, experts, vendors, and translators.
• Maintain rigorous attention to risk management and compliance procedures.
• Communicate with all departing lawyers to ensure appropriate transition and re-staffing of pro bono matters.
• Collaborate with the Pro Bono Director to plan, staff, and oversee firmwide projects.
• Build and maintain relationships with legal services organizations and community partners.
• Manage ongoing pro bono projects and maintain training and resource materials.
• Serve as an internal resource for pro bono opportunities and trainings.
• Maintain an active pro bono caseload.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
