- Process Design and Optimization:
- Develop and design treatment processes for various water & waste water treatment.
- Optimize existing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and meet regulatory requirements.
- Use simulation software and modeling tools to evaluate process performance.
- Technology Selection:
- Assess and recommend appropriate treatment technologies (e.g., filtration, disinfection, chemical treatment).
- Evaluate new technologies and techniques for their applicability in the water treatment process.
- System Integration:
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure the integration of mechanical, electrical, and civil systems into the design.
- Ensure that various components of the water treatment system work effectively together.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that the design complies with local, state, and federal regulations and standards for water quality and treatment.
- Participate in environmental assessments and impact studies.
- Project Management:
- Plan and manage projects, timelines, and budgets related to design and implementation.
- Coordinate with other engineers, contractors, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Data Analysis and Testing:
- Conduct laboratory and pilot-scale tests to evaluate treatment processes.
- Analyze data from testing and operational sources to identify areas for improvement.
- Documentation:
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and design specifications.
- Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for process operations and maintenance.
- Field Work and Troubleshooting:
- Conduct site visits to monitor existing processes and troubleshoot operational issues.
- Collaborate with operators and maintenance teams to address process malfunctions.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work with project teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and present designs.
- Engage with regulatory agencies, clients, and the community to communicate project goals and outcomes.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or specific certifications (like PE or EIT) can be beneficial.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of water treatment processes, hydraulics, fluid dynamics, and chemical processes.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with design and modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, HYSYS, MATLAB).
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for process optimization and troubleshooting.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation and collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
