Procurement & Purchasing Manager

Role Overview
The Procurement & Purchasing Manager is responsible for developing and executing a strategic sourcing and purchasing function that supports manufacturing operations, project execution, and company profitability. This role goes beyond transactional purchasing and focuses on vendor strategy, cost optimization, bulk purchasing programs, supplier negotiations, and inventory planning.
This individual will play a critical role in improving margins, reducing supply risk, and creating scalable procurement processes that support both one-off projects and high-volume production.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management
Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure best pricing, terms, lead times, and service levels Develop preferred vendor programs and long-term supplier partnerships Negotiate bulk purchasing agreements and volume discounts Evaluate vendor performance related to cost, quality, delivery, and reliability Identify alternative suppliers to reduce risk and single-source dependency
Purchasing & Inventory Strategy
Oversee purchasing for raw materials, components, equipment, and shop supplies Determine optimal purchasing strategies (bulk vs. project-specific vs. just-in-time) Balance inventory levels to support production schedules while minimizing excess stock Collaborate with production, estimating, and project management teams to forecast material needs
Cost Control & Margin Improvement
Analyze purchasing data to identify cost-saving opportunities Track material cost trends and recommend sourcing or pricing adjustments Support estimating and project teams with accurate material pricing and lead-time data Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing material costs and waste
Process Development & Collaboration
Develop and document procurement and purchasing SOPs Improve purchasing approval workflows and vendor selection processes Partner with operations, finance, and project teams to ensure alignment Improve visibility into material availability and lead times across departments
Qualifications & Experience
5+ years of procurement, purchasing, or sourcing experience Experience in manufacturing, construction, signage, fabrication, or a related field strongly preferred Proven experience negotiating pricing, contracts, and supplier agreements Strong understanding of bulk purchasing, inventory planning, and supply chain fundamentals Experience working in a production-driven or operational environment Proficiency with ERP systems, purchasing software, and Excel Strong analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills,
