Procurement Engineer

Role Summary

A Procurement Engineer is responsible for managing the procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for engineering and construction projects. The role ensures that all purchased items meet project specifications, quality standards, and are delivered on time and within budget. The Procurement Engineer acts as a link between project teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to optimize cost, quality, and delivery schedules.

Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement Planning

· - Develop procurement strategies and plans based on project requirements.

· - Review project specifications, BOQs, and drawings to identify material needs.

· - Prepare material procurement schedules aligned with project timelines.

Supplier Management

· - Identify, evaluate, and prequalify suppliers and subcontractors.

· - Request and analyze quotations to ensure competitiveness and compliance.

· - Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.

Purchase Management

· - Issue purchase orders in line with company policies and project requirements.

· - Track and expedite deliveries to meet site requirements.

· - Ensure timely approvals of material submittals and samples.

Quality & Compliance

· - Ensure all procured items comply with project specifications and standards.

· - Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspection and testing of materials.

· - Maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Cost & Budget Control

· - Monitor procurement costs against budget allocations.

· - Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.

· - Maintain proper documentation for cost tracking and auditing.

Coordination & Reporting

· - Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and site teams for material needs.

· - Prepare procurement status reports and highlight delays or risks.

· - Attend progress and coordination meetings with project stakeholders.

Skills & Competencies

· - Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supply chain, and vendor management.

· - Understanding of MEP, HVAC, and construction materials specifications.

· - Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Odoo, SAP, Oracle) and MS Office tools.

· - Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

· - Ability to multitask and manage priorities under pressure.

· - Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

· - On-time delivery of materials and equipment.

· - Cost savings achieved against budget.

· - Supplier performance and reliability.

· - Quality compliance of procured items.

· - Accuracy and timeliness of procurement reports.
