Procurement Engineer

Key Responsibilities Procurement & Purchasing

  • Review project drawings, specifications, BOQs, and material requirements.
  • Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotations based on technical compliance, cost, and delivery schedules.
  • Prepare commercial and technical comparison sheets for management approval.
  • Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Issue Purchase Orders (POs) and monitor procurement activities.
  • Source aluminium profiles, glass, ACP, steel, hardware, sealants, fasteners, and other project materials.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.

Technical Coordination

  • Work closely with design, estimation, production, and project teams to understand material requirements.
  • Verify material specifications and ensure compliance with approved shop drawings and project requirements.
  • Coordinate material submittals, samples, and approvals with consultants and clients when required.
  • Resolve technical issues related to procurement and material availability.

Vendor Management

  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Identify alternative suppliers to improve cost efficiency and reduce procurement risks.
  • Conduct market research to identify new products and suppliers.

Cost Control & Reporting

  • Monitor procurement budgets and project material costs.
  • Track procurement schedules and provide regular status reports.
  • Assist in cost-saving initiatives and value engineering proposals.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.

Logistics & Inventory Coordination

  • Coordinate material deliveries with site and production teams.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate stock availability.
  • Follow up on delivery schedules and resolve supply chain issues.
  • Coordinate transportation and logistics requirements when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of procurement experience in aluminium, facade, glazing, or steel contracting.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials and procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with local and international suppliers.

Skills Required

  • Procurement and supply chain management.
  • Technical understanding of aluminium, glass, ACP, and steel systems.
  • Vendor negotiation and contract management.
  • Cost analysis and budgeting.
  • Reading engineering drawings and specifications.
  • ERP and procurement software proficiency.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Time management and problem-solving abilities.
