Role Purpose

The Procurement Engineer - Mechanical at Al Bawani Construction Company is responsible for

sourcing, evaluating, and procuring mechanical components and systems for construction projects.

This role involves collaborating with engineering teams, managing supplier relationships, and

ensuring that procurement activities align with project timelines and specifications.


Key Accountabilities Key Activities

Sourcing and Procurement

• Identify and evaluate suppliers for mechanical components and systems based on project requirements.

• Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement.

• Prepare purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.

• Maintain accurate records of procurement activities and supplier communications.

Technical Evaluation

• Collaborate with engineering teams to understand technical specifications and requirements for mechanical components.

• Conduct technical evaluations of supplier proposals and products to ensure compliance with project standards.

• Assess the quality, reliability, and performance of mechanical components prior to procurement.

• Provide technical input during the procurement process to ensure alignment with engineering needs.

Supplier Relationship Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors in the mechanical field.

• Monitor supplier performance and conduct regular evaluations to ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards.

• Address supplier-related issues and work collaboratively to resolve any challenges.

• Foster communication between suppliers and internal teams to ensure project alignment.

Cost Management and Reporting

• Track procurement expenses and monitor budget compliance for mechanical components.

• Analyze procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for improvement.

• Prepare reports on procurement activities, expenditures, and supplier performance for management review

• Collaborate with finance to ensure accurate budgeting and forecasting for procurement activities.

Continuous Improvement

• Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and technologies in mechanical engineering procurement.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement processes and efficiency.

• Provide insights and recommendations for optimizing procurement strategies and supplier management.

Necessary Knowledge and Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, specifically related to mechanical engineering.

• Strong understanding of mechanical components, systems, and related specifications.

• Experience in negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.

• Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards.

Education and Certification Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

• Relevant certifications in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CPPB) are preferred.

Job Specific Technical Skills

• Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
