Job Summary
The Procurement Engineer – MEP is responsible for managing the procurement process for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing materials, equipment, and subcontract packages in accordance with project requirements, budget, and timelines. The role involves coordination with engineering, commercial, and site teams to ensure timely delivery and compliance with specifications, local regulations, and client standards in Qatar.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Vendor Management
- Manage end-to-end procurement of MEP materials, equipment, and subcontract works
- Prepare and issue RFQs, RFPs, and tender documents for MEP packages
- Evaluate technical and commercial bids in coordination with engineering and QS teams
- Negotiate prices, delivery schedules, payment terms, and contracts
- Prepare purchase orders and subcontract agreements
Technical & Compliance
- Review MEP technical submittals and ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and QCS (Qatar Construction Specifications)
- Coordinate with consultants and clients for approvals of materials and vendors
- Ensure compliance with local authority requirements (Kahramaa, Civil Defense, Ashghal, etc.)
Project Coordination
- Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, and planners to align procurement schedules with project timelines
- Track material delivery schedules and resolve supply chain issues
- Monitor supplier performance and handle variations, claims, and non-conformances
Cost & Documentation
- Support budgeting, cost control, and value engineering initiatives
- Maintain procurement logs, material tracking sheets, and vendor databases
- Prepare procurement reports, comparison sheets, and progress updates
Logistics & Site Support
- Coordinate logistics, shipping, customs clearance, and local deliveries
- Ensure materials are delivered to site on time and in accordance with approved submittals
- Support site teams with technical and procurement-related queries
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering
- Minimum 5–8 years experience in MEP procurement within Qatar or GCC
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems (HVAC, Plumbing, Firefighting, Electrical, ELV)
- Experience working with contractors or large-scale construction projects
- Familiarity with Qatar market suppliers and authority approvals
Skills & Competencies
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Excellent understanding of MEP specifications and drawings
- Knowledge of QCS, Kahramaa, and Civil Defense requirements
- Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Strong communication, coordination, and reporting skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Preferred
- Experience in high-rise, commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects
- Immediate availability or transferable residency (if applicable)
- Valid Qatar driving license (advantage)
