Procurement Engineer MEP-Site

Job Purpose

To perform all procurement activities related to the purchase of equipment and material for all projects in addition to subcontracting, and ensure that the procedures are all completed with high quality.

Tasks, Roles & Responsibilities

• Study project drawings, specifications and related documents.
• Review tender’s proposal, technical and financial documents.
• Issue and process requisitions for quotations to sub-contractors/suppliers.
• Obtain quotations from local and international sub-contractors/suppliers.
• Prepare submittals for consultant’s/client’s approval in line with the selected vendor and as per the department standards.
• Negotiate sub-contracts/P.O.S terms with sub-contractors/suppliers.
• Prepare and process letters of intent, purchase orders and sub-contracts for sub-contractors/ suppliers.
• Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable prices.
• Review catalogs, industry periodicals, directories, trade journals, internet sites, and consult with others to locate necessary procurement services, materials and requirements to improve the department function and effectiveness.
• Follow and respect the Department’s policies, procedures and objectives.
• Attend meetings, conferences, conventions and seminars necessary to network with others involved in the procurement process (consultants, contractors, suppliers, etc.) to improve the Procurement Department function and effectiveness.
• Prepare both technical and financial comparisons for Senior Engineer or Section Head for review.
• Assist in solving problems and escalating the unsolved problems to the Senior Procurement Engineer for advice.
• Negotiate with suppliers and sub-contractors to obtain optimum quality, cost, terms, etc.
• Update all engaged data on a regular basis.
• Follow-up on all of the above responsibilities in conjunction with Senior Engineer and/or Section Head.
• Handle other responsibilities as assigned.
