Sourcing and acquisition of ELVs
- Network with suppliers: Develop and maintain a network of contacts to source ELVs. These contacts can include second-hand car dealers, car service centers, scrap yards, fleet operators, and insurance companies.
- Identify new opportunities: Find and connect with new sources of scrap vehicles to ensure a consistent and reliable supply for the recycling facility.
- Handle procurement transactions: Manage the entire procurement process, from the initial offer to the final acquisition of end-of-life vehicles.
Supplier and relationship management
- Negotiate contracts: Negotiate and finalize sourcing agreements with ELV suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
- Manage supplier relationships: Foster long-term relationships with both organized and informal-sector suppliers, which is crucial for a consistent supply chain.
- Evaluate supplier performance: Monitor the performance of suppliers to ensure reliability, quality of materials, and compliance with regulations.
Market analysis and strategy
- Track market trends: Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and the prices of ELVs and their component materials in different regions.
- Devise procurement strategies: Develop and implement sourcing strategies to ensure the most cost-effective and timely acquisition of vehicles and other materials.
Compliance and documentation
- Ensure regulatory compliance: Guarantee that all procurement activities align with government policies and industry regulations, especially those regarding the safe and environmentally sound management of ELVs.
- Maintain accurate records: Keep meticulous records of all procurement activities, including purchases, pricing data, and supplier information. This is necessary for internal audits and regulatory reporting.
- Manage permits and certifications: Ensure suppliers and the recycling facility itself comply with all necessary licenses and environmental certifications.
Financial management
- Conduct cost analyses: Perform detailed cost analyses to establish appropriate benchmarks and ensure the financial efficiency of the procurement process.
- Control procurement budget: Monitor and control the budget allocated for procuring ELVs and other goods and services, while actively working to reduce costs.
Cross-functional collaboration
- Work with internal teams: Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, compliance, and logistics, to ensure the smooth procurement and handover of vehicles.
- Resolve issues: Handle any disputes or issues that may arise with vendors or internal stakeholders.
