Job Summary

The Purchasing Assistant / Inventory Control & Accounting Technician supports warehouse operations, purchasing activities, and financial processes within the organization. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, organizing and restocking materials, assisting with procurement activities, and supporting the finance department with accounts payable and vendor management tasks. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate effectively between warehouse, purchasing, and accounting teams.


Key Responsibilities


  • Maintain accurate inventory locations through labeling and organization of materials within the warehouse.
  • Perform daily cycle counts and verify physical inventory against system records while monitoring discrepancies.
  • Stock and restock warehouse shelves and identify materials requiring replenishment.
  • Pull materials for project orders and assist with kitting and staging of materials for jobs.
  • Load and unload incoming materials and complete receiving documentation.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness, organization, and labeling of stock materials.
  • Assist with moving heavy materials and pallets, including items exceeding 100 lbs., and support warehouse operations as needed.
  • Scan and distribute packing slips into Sage Intacct purchasing records and maintain documentation. Review purchase requisition forms for completeness and assist with purchase order entry.
  • Work with the Purchasing Manager to resolve pricing discrepancies, delivery issues, and purchase order conflicts.
  • Process vendor invoices. Communicate with staff, vendors, and providers regarding purchasing matters.
  • Crosstrain with warehouse, purchasing, and finance departments to assist during absences or high workload periods.


Qualifications


  • High School Diploma required.
  • Associate’s degree in business administration, Finance, or Accounting preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of accounts payable or general accounting experience required.
  • Basic accounting knowledge and experience with computer-based financial systems.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting software preferred.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare and organize reports using proper grammar, syntax, and formatting.
  • Ability to work under deadlines, schedules, and budget constraints.
  • Experience in construction or engineering environments preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • This position is open only to candidates who currently reside in Alaska due to business and employment compliance requirements.
