Procurement & Project Support Specialist

We recently established a Procurement Department focused on seeking, bidding, and managing government and commercial contracts. We are looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated individual to join our team and assist in contract tracking, bid management, subcontractor coordination, and ongoing project support.

Position Overview

The Procurement & Project Support Specialist plays a key role in helping Alpha identify new opportunities, organize bid materials, track project documentation, and assist with subcontractor outreach. The ideal candidate is proactive, professional, and eager to learn — someone who enjoys bringing structure and efficiency to complex projects. Projects include full-scale of construction and often a specialty area of work such as utility infrastructure, environmental assessment or cleanup, demolition, and site development/construction.

This position is based out of our Beaverton or Salem office and offers long-term career growth opportunities within our procurement and project management teams.

Responsibilities

  • Research and track new bid and contract opportunities through PlanHub, Dodge Construction Network, and public agency portals (e.g., SAM.gov, ORPIN, BidNet).
  • Maintain organized records for active bids and awarded projects.
  • Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and availability.
  • Assist project managers with scheduling, document tracking, and reporting.
  • Update bid logs, cost spreadsheets, and other project tracking tools in Excel.
  • Prepare and format professional correspondence and documentation in Microsoft Office.
  • Learn and apply internal systems, AI-based tools (such as ChatGPT), and other software to streamline processes.
  • Some travel is possible but not estimated to be more than 10% of time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in construction, project management, or a related field, or relevant college coursework.
  • Strong organization and time management skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and comfort using new software platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
  • A typing test with a minimum WPM score will be required before hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in construction, project management, or a related field, or registered geologist license, geologist-in-training, professional engineer, or engineer-in-training license.
  • Strong organization and time management skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and comfort using new software platforms.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $60,000–$75,000 annually, DOE
