Procurement Specialist

Summary:

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and acquiring materials, equipment, and contracted services to support company operations and project execution. This role ensures the timely procurement of high-quality products and services within budget by maintaining strong vendor relationships, monitoring inventory levels, and coordinating closely with Project Managers and Superintendents. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance cost efficiency with operational needs across multiple projects and departments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • One to two years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or constructionrelated supply chain functions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong math, reasoning, and analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and cost control.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problemsolving abilities.
  • Experience supporting field operations, construction projects, or maintenance

teams is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Procure, evaluate, and acquire materials, equipment, and labor services to meet project requirements.
  • Maintain inventory control by verifying quantities, recording serial/model numbers, reconciling physical counts, and safeguarding storage areas.
  • Maintain materials and labor cost database and forecast future trends.
  • Create material selections and submittals documentation.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules, monitor lead times, and communicate potential delays to project teams.
  • Review project scopes of work to forecast material and labor needs in alignment with project schedules.
  • Prepare and process material and purchase orders for vendors and subcontractors as needed.
  • Verify deliveries for accuracy, quantity, and condition before signing off with carriers.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining systems to track equipment loans, inventory usage, and procurement records.
  • Support Project Managers and Superintendents by purchasing costeffective materials, analyzing variances, and maintaining budget control.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and quality service.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and contractual obligations.
  • Provide timely communication and coordination between project teams, accounting, and field staff.
  • Maintain familiarity with installation procedures and materials through continuous communication with field teams and trade partners.
  • Contribute to the overall success of each project by anticipating needs and

delivering efficient procurement solutions.

General Conditions and Duties:

Other duties as assigned. Some tasks may involve frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds; some positions may involve moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 70 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; working in all weather conditions; exposure to high noise levels, and require wearing hearing protection. The Construction Estimator may be required to travel occasionally and visit local and out-of-town job sites. The ability to drive & fly is required.
