Procurement Supervisor
We are seeking an experienced Procurement Supervisor to support procurement strategy, manage vendor relationships, and oversee day-to-day purchasing operations within the power generation and cooling systems sector.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Strategy & Planning
- Assist the Procurement Manager in developing and executing effective procurement strategies.
- Forecast price and market trends to identify shifts in buyer–supplier dynamics.
- Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand to support proactive procurement planning.
- Determine appropriate quantity and timing of deliveries.
- Perform cost analysis, scenario analysis, and benchmarking to support decision-making.
- Analyze market and delivery trends to develop procurement technologies and processes aligned with industry changes.
- Implement procurement strategies to maintain security of supply and ensure optimum value for money.
- Support the Procurement Manager in setting policies and guidelines to deliver a commercial, efficient, and cost-effective procurement process.
Operational Procurement & Contracting
- Perform all procurement and contracting activities, including supplier pre-qualification, tender management, negotiations, and preparation of contracts.
- Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with vendors on optimal terms and conditions.
- Seek, evaluate, and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers.
- Ensure clear documentation of requirements by partnering closely with internal stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain a supplier database and establish annual purchasing contracts for both low-value and high-value items.
Vendor Management & Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain close working relationships with key business stakeholders and strategic supply partners to enhance business performance.
- Conduct regular business review meetings with stakeholders to assess risks, review strategies, and identify cost-reduction and improvement opportunities.
- Ensure all procurement dealings uphold the principles of value for money, transparency, fairness, efficiency, and accountability.
Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
- Assess, manage, and mitigate procurement-related risks.
- Implement changes and develop new processes to improve the procurement of goods and services.
- Advise the Procurement Manager on potential improvements to the procurement process.
Team Leadership & Reporting
- Train, guide, and supervise the work of procurement staff and store team members.
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve overall procurement effectiveness.
- Provide periodic reports to the Procurement Manager on purchasing activities, controls, and processes.
General
- Perform any other duties or responsibilities assigned from time to time based on business requirements.
Requirements
- 5+ years procurement experience in Qatar, including 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of generators, power systems, and cooling solutions (mandatory).
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering preferred; Supply Chain/Business acceptable.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and vendor management skills.
- Fluent in English; Arabic preferred.
- Valid Qatar Driving License.
- CAD knowledge is a plus.
