Produce Manager

Position Summary

The Produce Manager is responsible for leading all produce department operations, including product quality, freshness, merchandising, inventory management, and team leadership. This role ensures compliance with company standards and food safety regulations while driving sales, controlling shrink, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, train, and develop produce department associates to meet performance and service expectations
  • Create effective schedules aligned with business needs and labor standards
  • Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action as needed
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and customer‑focused service
Produce Department Operations
  • Oversee daily operations including receiving, rotation, trimming, stocking, and merchandising of produce
  • Ensure adherence to quality, freshness, and presentation standards
  • Manage forecasting, ordering, inventory levels, and vendor deliveries
  • Ensure department cleanliness, organization, and proper maintenance of fixtures and equipment
Food Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Maintain accurate temperature logs, inspection records, and documentation
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, rotation, and disposal of produce
  • Prepare for and respond to internal and external audits
Sales, Margin & Shrink Control
  • Drive sales through effective merchandising, displays, promotions, and seasonal execution
  • Manage shrink, spoilage, and markdowns in alignment with company standards
  • Analyze sales trends and department metrics to optimize labor and product mix
  • Control department expenses and support overall store financial performance
Customer Experience
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and resolve escalated customer concerns
  • Ensure product availability, freshness, and visual appeal meet customer expectations
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and customer‑ready department at all times

Pay Transparency:



Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay*, PTO/Vacation pay*, paid holidays*, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis.


  • For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.
