- Communicate product design requirements to manufacturers and vendors using rendered

images, CAD models, technical drawings, and/or technical writing

- Present sketches and/or renders of new product ideas at product development meetings

- Work with 3D printer for small prototypes and our craftsperson to produce larger prototypes

and aesthetic store displays

- Provide detailed images, drawings, and written specifications for patentable products to our

patent law firm to protect novel product concepts

- Aid with instruction manuals by creating line drawings with CAD and Illustrator if familiar

Skills:

- Knowledge of construction materials, fasteners, and fit tolerance

- Prior internship/professional work experience is a plus

- Experience with design for user experience and ergonomics

- Previous experience building with wood, sheet metal, and or acrylic is a plus

- Knowledge of patentability and what makes something a good candidate for design/utility

patents is a plus

- Sewing experience, knowledge of textiles, and/or fabric construction principles is a plus

- Basic Adobe Illustrator Skills (instructions) is a plus

Characteristics:

- Ability to self-direct through design process after initial concept and constraints are given

(market research, sketching, iterations, prototype ideation, final CAD for manufacture)

- Ability to self-direct through a few projects at a time (move on to next pertinent project or ask

for next most urgent project to work on after current task is completed)

- Ability to use critiques to improve designs and prototypes prior to manufacture

Education:
