About Nominal

Nominal is a purpose-driven jewelry and lifestyle brand built around faith, culture, and meaning. Our designs blend Arabic calligraphy, Islamic inspiration, and global artistry with a modern aesthetic—celebrating the beauty of identity through intentional design.

We’re looking for a Product Designer who can bring creative culturally-aligned ideas to life by executing new collections, collaborating with designers and manufacturers, and ensuring every product meets Nominal’s creative, representation, and story-telling standards.

Role Overview

The Product Designer will play a key role in executing the product design process from concept to final production. You’ll research cultural and faith-based design influences, work closely with designers and manufacturing partners, and help maintain alignment across creative, marketing, and production teams.

This role requires a mix of creative sensibility, technical coordination, and operational precision—turning vision into physical products that tell a story and resonate deeply with Nominal’s audience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research on cultural, artistic, and faith-inspired motifs especially from Middle Eastern, South Asian, and Islamic traditions, and reinterpret them through a modern design lens.
  • Design and develop jewelry, bag, and accessory concepts, for both women and men, in alignment with Nominal’s seasonal direction and leadership’s vision.
  • Work with freelance designers, providing creative direction, clear and daily feedback, and consistent brand alignment throughout the design process.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers to ensure technical specifications, materials, finishes, and measurements are accurate and achievable.
  • Support the Design Team in reviewing, refining, and finalizing product concepts for approval.
  • Maintain detailed design documentation including sketches, measurements, revisions, and material notes to ensure clarity from concept to production.
  • QC and evaluate samples upon arrival, identifying any inconsistencies, documenting measurements, and communicating revisions as needed.
  • Coordinate closely with the Marketing Team to curate products for campaigns, product launches, and seasonal collections, ensuring visual and thematic consistency.
  • Propose new design ideas, themes, and materials for upcoming launches, such as Ramadan, Black Friday, or cultural capsules.
  • Liaise with the CX (Customer Experience) Team to provide insights on product functionality and design improvements based on customer emails.
  • Create and refine packaging elements such as jewelry cards, shipping boxes and mailers, and freebies, maintaining consistency with Nominal’s aesthetic and meaningful product line.
  • Track progress across all active projects, ensuring deadlines and feedback loops are managed efficiently between internal and external collaborators.
  • Support post-launch evaluation by collecting feedback from customers and internal teams to inform future design improvements.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in jewelry product design.
  • Strong understanding of South Asian or Middle Eastern cultural, artistic, or faith-inspired design influences.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and familiar with 3D visualization tools (e.g., Rhino, Blender, or KeyShot).
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, capable of managing multiple design projects simultaneously.
  • Experience collaborating with overseas manufacturing partners and being available around the clock, due to the timezone differences, to have necessary discussions to push the projects forward.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset across creative and operational teams.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in faith-based or culturally inspired design brands.
  • Working knowledge of Arabic or Urdu calligraphy or regional motifs.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce jewelry design and digital product development workflows.
  • Experience supporting campaigns or creative direction.
