Product Hunter – Job Description
A Product Hunter is responsible for discovering, researching, and evaluating potential products that have strong market demand, high profit potential, and low competition to list and sell on e-commerce platforms like Amazon, eBay, Shopify, Walmart, etc. The role involves deep market research, trend analysis, competitor evaluation, supplier sourcing, and reporting insights to management.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct market research to identify trending, high-demand products with profitable potential.
- Analyze competitor offerings, pricing, demand/supply data, and overall marketplace trends.
- Use product research tools (e.g., Helium 10, Jungle Scout, Keepa, etc.) to assess product viability.
- Evaluate profit margins, sales velocity, seasonality, and risk for each product idea.
- Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for product selection decisions.
- Identify and source suppliers — negotiate pricing, minimum order quantities (MOQs), and delivery terms (for roles involving sourcing).
- Collaborate with sourcing, listing, and operations teams to support product launches and supply chain processes.
- Monitor ongoing product performance after launch and recommend optimization strategies.
- Stay updated on marketplace policies, buyer behaviour, and competitive movements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail.
- Experience using digital research tools like Helium 10, Keepa, Jungle Scout, etc. (for Amazon/e-commerce).
- Ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple product opportunities.
- Familiarity with e-commerce platforms (Amazon Seller Central, eBay, Shopify, Walmart) preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or related field (often preferred).
Nice-to-Have / Bonus Skills
- Understanding of SEO, PPC basics, and listing optimization.
- Experience with supplier negotiations or international sourcing.
- Knowledge of logistics, compliance, and fulfillment models (FBA, FBM).
