Production Buyer

Doncasters Superalloys of Long Beach is seeking a Production Buyer to join our team. The Production Buyer performs all aspects of Purchasing activities with a focus on management of Consumables Inventory.

Key Responsibilities:

• Processing internal requisitions and generating purchase orders to place with suppliers and sub-contractors in line with business requirements.
• Updating and issuing supplier delivery schedules, including provision of forecast information to suppliers.
• Progressing of purchase orders to obtain acknowledgements and supplier commitment to both pricing and delivery dates.
• Support for production and factory enquiries, to ensure all consumables, materials and services are available as and when required.
• Accurate and timely clearance of invoice queries to ensure supplier accounts are maintained.
• Contacting suppliers and vendors to support the daily purchasing function and maintain best practise.
• Track and report Purchasing key performance metrics to improve effectiveness
• Determine quantity and timing of deliveries, inventory management.
• Adjust inventory records as required following site physical stock checks
• Arrange return of defective goods and process record of this within the business system
• Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
• Shop floor tool and consumables management.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum 5 to 10 years previous experience as Buyer or current experience in a senior-level buyer/purchasing role.
• Manufacturing experience highly preferred.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Previous experience with ERP/MRP systems.
• CIPS standard at level 4 or above desired but not required.
• Highly motivated, flexible and reliable individual with excellent communication skills.

• Ideally qualified to CIPS standard at level 4 or above
