Job Overview:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the quality of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods while simultaneously supervising production processes. This dual role requires the candidate to maintain quality standards, reduce wastage, optimize production schedules, and ensure compliance with company policies and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities:Quality Control (QC):
- Raw Material Inspection:
- Inspect incoming paper reels (size, GSM, and quality) to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Maintain detailed records of QC checks and coordinate with suppliers for discrepancies.
- In-Process Quality Checks:
- Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to design specifications, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Perform tests for board strength, moisture levels, and print accuracy.
- Identify and address defects in real-time to minimize waste.
- Final Product Inspection:
- Conduct quality checks on finished cartons, including dimensions, printing, and edge cutting.
- Approve/reject batches based on client and company standards.
- Documentation:
- Maintain QC logs, deviation reports, and corrective action records.
- Collaborate with the compliance team to implement quality management systems.
Production Supervision:
- Production Planning:
- Oversee daily production activities, ensuring the timely completion of jobs.
- Allocate resources effectively, including labor and machinery, to meet deadlines.
- Machine Monitoring:
- Supervise the operation of corrugators, die cutters, and printing machines.
- Ensure proper reel issuance based on grammage and size for specific orders.
- Waste Management:
- Track and analyze wastage (sheet, trim, etc.) to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement measures to reduce wastage and enhance efficiency.
- Team Coordination:
- Coordinate with foremen, machine operators, and helpers to ensure smooth production flow.
- Provide training on quality standards and production techniques.
- Reporting:
- Prepare daily production and QC reports, highlighting performance metrics and issues.
- Suggest process improvements to enhance productivity and quality.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Management, or related fields.
- Experience:
- 1-4 years in QC and/or production in a corrugated carton manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with corrugators, offset printing, and die-cutting processes is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of quality standards (ISO, client-specific standards).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems for production and quality reporting.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Percentage of wastage reduction.
- Number of quality issues reported and resolved.
- On-time production completion rate.
- Compliance with QC standards.
