1. Production Oversight
- Supervise daily operations of the joinery workshop to ensure output meets quality standards and delivery timelines.
- Develop and monitor production schedules in collaboration with the Factory Manager.
- Implement lean manufacturing practices and optimize resource utilization.
- Identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvements in production efficiency.
- Ensure safe and proper use of joinery equipment (e.g., CNC machines, panel saws, edge banders).
2. Project Management
- Coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure projects are executed on time, within scope, and to client specifications.
- Balance workshop production with on-site installation demands through effective resource planning.
- Resolve technical and logistical issues in collaboration with site and design teams.
- Liaise with engineering, procurement, and site staff to overcome challenges related to material flow, drawing interpretation, or installation.
3. Back-Office Coordination
- Act as the primary link between operations and departments such as HR, Finance, Procurement, Planning, Cost Control, and Logistics.
- Align internal teams on timelines and operational goals.
- Ensure timely procurement and delivery of raw materials and hardware (timber, MDF, plywood, veneers, fittings, etc.).
4. Budgeting & Cost Control
- Work with finance teams to manage production and site budgets.
- Monitor and control expenditures related to factory, logistics, and installation.
- Support financial planning and forecasting aligned with operational goals.
5. Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the main operational contact for clients, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Lead progress meetings and site visits, addressing issues proactively.
- Foster strong, long-term relationships through excellent service and consistent communication.
- Coordinate with external parties including suppliers, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
6. Operational Excellence
- Drive initiatives in lean manufacturing, 5S, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Introduce new technologies, tools, or practices to enhance workshop efficiency.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and accountability across teams.
7. Quality Control & Assurance
- Implement robust quality control procedures across production and site operations.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, design requirements, and client expectations.
- Lead root cause analysis for defects and implement corrective actions.
- Oversee mock-ups, sample submissions, and quality audits.
Requirements:
- Proven experience (5+ years) in operations management within a joinery, woodworking, or fit-out environment.
- Strong understanding of joinery production processes, machinery, and materials.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage cross-functional teams and multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficient in project management tools and MS Office; knowledge of AutoCAD or joinery software (e.g., Cabinet Vision) is a plus.
