Operation Room Manager - CON

  • Oversees the daily operations of the operating room, ensuring efficient surgical workflow, staff coordination, and adherence to safety and clinical protocols. They lead the OR nursing and technical teams, manage schedules, training, and resource allocation, while fostering collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and support staff. Additionally, they uphold compliance with regulatory standards, monitor performance metrics, and drive quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.

  • Oversee and coordinate the daily operations of the operating room suite, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow throughout pre-op, OR, and post-op areas.
  • Supervise scheduling, performance management, hiring, and orientation of OR nursing and technical staff to maintain optimal staffing levels.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce OR-specific policies, procedures, and protocols to uphold clinical, safety, and infection control standards.
  • Manage inventory and ensure the availability, proper sterilization, and functionality of surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing leadership, and ancillary staff to facilitate coordinated and effective surgical services.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards by maintaining readiness for inspections and conducting quality improvement activities.
  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets, monitor supply and staffing costs, and participate in financial planning for OR operations.
  • Monitor key performance indicators—such as case turnover times, staffing utilization, and patient outcomes—to drive continuous operational improvements.
  • Provide leadership by guiding the OR team in best practices, ongoing education, and professional development.
  • Respond to emergent staffing or scheduling challenges, including call-offs or last-minute changes, to ensure uninterrupted OR service delivery.
  • Participate in risk management and infection control initiatives, including safety audits and incident reporting.
  • Ensure confidentiality, maintain compliance with data and patient privacy standards, and model professional conduct at all times.

  • Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Master’s or CNOR certification is a plus.
  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are typically required.
  • Requires several years of perioperative nursing experience, with proven leadership or management experience in an OR or surgical environment.
