Overview:
The Production Supervisor monitors production processes and is responsible for plant productivity and efficiencies.
Responsibilities:
- Follows and monitors GMP, HACCP, IIPP, Food Safety and SOPs guidelines;
- Completes and maintains production logs and other paperwork as needed for proper documentation;
- Sets up, adjusts, and maintains equipment with responsibility for production and quality;
- Manages all shift personnel via a direct reporting structure;
- Visually inspects and test machinery and equipment to detect malfunction;
- Works with management to discuss, diagnose problems and repair machinery;
- Operates equipment startup and shutdown;
- Communicates plant issue’s and operations with management;
- Performs CIP and sanitation operations;
- Responsible for upholding food safety standards in the plant including being HACCP certified;
- Responsible for ensuring all HACCP verifications are reviewed and signed while on shift;
- Assists in providing safe working conditions for all employees;
- Develops and maintains positive and professional relationships with all employees and management;
- Monitors total plant operations and control of automated systems;
- Monitors material flow and instruments to include temperature, pressure gauges indicators and meters;
- Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery;
- Works with QA department to test quality of product;
- Monitors and maintains inventory and notifies management if items need to be reordered;
- Performs maintenance duties to prevent, improve and during breakdowns;
- Ensures product is within quality and customer qualifications;
- Optimizes plant efficiency and coordinates plant needs accordingly;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or appropriate equivalent from an accredited university or;
- Minimum 5 years experience in food manufacturing
- Ability to speak, write, and read English is a must, some Spanish a plus;
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend over, climb stairs and ladders and lift/move up to 50 pounds;
- Must possess good mechanical, communication and people skills;
- Must be able to follow and communicate directions;
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure and compute rate, ratio and percentage;
- Proficient in Microsoft programs.
