The Position
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Adopt the more advanced/complex roadbed design projects while providing mentoring and training for the 2 Professional Engineer Roadbed Designers. Research implement, lead new & modern design practices. Present research at conferences. Coordinate with UNR, FHWA, NDOT HQ and districts, cities, counties, consultants, and other entities when needed. Visit the field to determine existing roadbed conditions & suggest appropriate strategy in memo. Design project flexible and rigid pavement structural sections. Review, write, edit, & revise new and established specifications, pull sheets, write ups & Standard Plans for new projects & future publications, Review & recommend changes as necessary for new & existing pavement design processes, manuals, & procedures. Attend meetings and provide recommendations such as design reviews, PDFS, project updates, etc. Write Design Review, Theoretical, Traffic, Core and Structural Roadbed Memos: Pavement Design Reports. Review permits and provide engineering recommendations. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a civil engineering field such as geotechnical, structural, water resources, transportation or construction engineering, and licensure as a Professional Engineer which included practical experience relevant to the assignment; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering, completion of 12 units of graduate level coursework relevant to the assignment, licensure as a Professional Engineer, and one year of professional post-licensure civil engineering experience; OR five years of professional experience as a Licensed Professional Engineer performing engineering work relevant to the assignment.
Any person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of employment.
Positions may require specialize education and experience which will be identified at the time of recruitment.
Additional Position Criteria
This position requires a valid driver's license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
