The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of School Safety (OSS), is looking for a highly motivated professional to join our leadership team. DOJ is currently recruiting for a Program and Policy Analyst – School Safety Consultant to be headquartered at the Risser Justice Center located at 17 W. Main Street in Madison, WI .
This position is eligible to work 100% remotely from within the State of Wisconsin. High speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work.

Position Summary

This position supports the Wisconsin Department of Justice and the Office of School Safety’s commitment to serving our school partners statewide. OSS is responsible for the quality assurance and oversight of the mandatory requirements of Wis. Stat. § 118.07. Wis. Stat. § 118.07 requires public and private schools to submit on an annual basis for each school building: blueprints, safety plans, school violence drills, school safety training and safety assessments. This position assists in achieving this goal by providing service and support to our school partners in Wisconsin and oversight of the requirements of Wis. Stat. § 118.07.
This individual will perform professional level evaluations and reviews of the mandatory requirements related to Wis. Stat. § 118.07 and provide consultation to schools with best practice resources for the mandatory requirements. This individual will provide consultation and guidance to assist schools with completing the requirements and submission to OSS. The individual will also develop presentations and training materials specializing in Wis. Stat. § 118.07 and will coordinate and/or provide trainings to school staff and the general public.
Salary Information

The Program and Policy Analyst position is in pay schedule 07 and pay range 04. The starting pay will be between $25 - $35/hr. Pay for current or former state employees will follow the provisions found in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan effective at the time of hire. A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Job Details

This position may be required to report to the assigned headquarters as needed. Travel to the headquarters is not eligible for travel reimbursement. Must be eligible to drive when required for travel.
The Department of Justice does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.
An extensive background check, including fingerprints, will be completed on applicants prior to selection.
Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants must have training, education, or work experience in the following areas: Using Microsoft Suite products, or similar software, on a daily basis to: Create and/or maintain spreadsheets and databases. Create, edit, and proofread documents Utilizing Outlook e-mail and calendaring functions Using computers and providing technical assistance, troubleshooting, and recovery functions in applications, programs, and/or platforms. Preparing and updating written materials, such as newsletters, training materials, and/or manuals.
In addition to the qualifications listed above, well-qualified applicants will have a combination of the following: Experience working in partnership with Wisconsin K-12 schools in Wisconsin and/or within the criminal justice system. Experience guiding stakeholders through the explanation, justification, and/or discussion of a variety of issues requiring a logical presentation of appropriate facts, information, or analysis. Experience in K-12 school safety trends, resources and best practices.
