Overview:
The Program Coordinator will support the Co-Directors in advancing the goals and activities of the Center for the Study of Democratic Politics (CSDP) in the School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. The Coordinator will provide high-level administrative, programmatic, and logistical support, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the Center. The position involves coordinating fellowship programs, planning and managing events, assisting with budget and financial tasks, and serving as a primary point of contact for the Center’s faculty, fellows, students, and visitors.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
Program Administration and Coordination

Provide administrative and programmatic support for the Center’s priorities and initiatives.

Coordinate undergraduate and graduate student employment, including the Center’s research assistant program.

Administer the Center’s student grant programs, such as graduate research and travel grants.

Assist with administration of grants and projects connected to a multi-center experimental social science research initiative.

Ensure Center activities comply with University policies and procedures.
Fellowship Programs

Advertise fellowship opportunities (faculty, postdoctoral, and undergraduate) and coordinate application processes.

Support the review and selection process for fellowship applicants.

Manage University requirements related to hiring, onboarding, and payroll for fellows.

Coordinate logistics for Center fellows, visiting scholars, and student collaborators.

Assist in planning fellowship-related programming such as orientation and professional development workshops.
Events Management

Plan and coordinate all aspects of the Center’s events, including weekly colloquia, conferences, workshops, and public lectures.

Arrange event logistics, such as catering, travel, accommodations, audio-visual needs, media outreach, and registration.

Serve as primary contact for speakers and guests before, during, and after events.

Support the execution of both in-person and virtual events and help address issues as they arise.

Manage post-event follow-up, including editing and distributing recordings and related materials.
Budget and Financial Support

Assist with management of the Center’s budget and resources in collaboration with the Co-Directors.

Prepare and reconcile expense reports, ensuring compliance with University accounting and audit procedures.

Process purchasing and travel reimbursements, maintain financial records, and manage transactions in University systems.
Operations and Communications

Support the daily operations of the Center, responding to inquiries and maintaining strong working relationships across the community.

Help coordinate use of Center facilities, including scheduling rooms and liaising with facilities and IT support.

Maintain and update the Center’s website and communications channels.

Provide general administrative support to the Co-Directors and Center staff.
Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

One to three years of experience in a related administrative or program coordination role.

Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, students, and distinguished visitors.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn University systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Concur, PRIME).

Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and attention to detail.

Experience in event planning and execution.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced academic environment.
Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree.

Familiarity with higher education administration and academic culture.

Experience supporting fellowship or grant programs.

Experience with website editing and content management systems (e.g., Drupal).

Interest in the Center’s research areas, such as inequality, political institutions, political behavior, and policymaking.
