<Job Summary>
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our finance team. <Duties>
- Manage project budgets by tracking expenses, revenues, and variances to ensure alignment with financial goals.
- Prepare and review detailed project financial reports, including forecasts, cash flow analyses, and variance explanations.
- Perform general ledger accounting functions related to project transactions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and ledger maintenance using accounting software such as PeopleSoft or Xero.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accurate account analysis for project accounts.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable activities specific to projects, ensuring timely processing and compliance with contractual terms.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory reporting standards such as SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements and LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) regulations where applicable.
- Support internal audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of project-related financial data.
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to interpret financial reports, facilitate budgeting processes, and improve financial workflows.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), securities law, governmental accounting standards, and other relevant regulations.
- Mentor junior team members in technical accounting practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
<Qualifications>
- Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or CMA designation preferred.
- Proven experience in corporate or non-profit accounting environments with a focus on project or grant accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, and financial concepts.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or Quicken; familiarity with Microsoft Excel for advanced data analysis is essential.
- Experience with SOX compliance, LIHTC programs, governmental or public sector accounting is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliation and journal entries accurately.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial reports and conduct cash flow analysis effectively.
- Strong understanding of regulatory reporting requirements including tax experience related to Wills, trusts & estate law is a plus.
- Effective communication skills for financial report writing and presentation; mentoring capabilities are valued. Pay: $46,172.45 - $69,691.55 per year
