Description
The Project Coordinator – Procurement applies developing business process and project management skills within the Procurement and Supply Chain function. This role supports well-defined projects and supplier-related initiatives by providing coordination, analytical, administrative, and logistics support to project teams and Project Managers. The incumbent plays a critical role in procurement change management, supplier reviews, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless implementation of supplier-side changes aligned with Cummins’ standards and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Change Management & Supplier Reviews

Conduct supplier assessments, capability analysis, and performance reviews to ensure alignment with organizational and compliance standards.

Manage supplier-side change initiatives, including process improvements, compliance updates, and operational transitions.

Act as a key liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure transparent communication, issue resolution, and alignment.

Document supplier review outcomes, lessons learned, and best practices to strengthen organizational knowledge.
Project Coordination & Execution

Serve as a project resource by applying foundational project management principles and business understanding.

Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Procurement, Finance, Quality, Engineering, and Operations) to drive successful implementation of supplier changes.

Monitor and communicate project status, timelines, risks, and deliverables to project teams and Project Managers.

Identify, track, and support resolution of project issues using recommended tools and disciplines.

Assist in managing project risks, including identifying risk areas and supporting mitigation actions.
Procurement Operations Support

Lead and support procurement attribute updates such as RFQs, PO price adjustments, and supplier master data changes.

Support Source-to-Pay activities including supplier onboarding, contract coordination, and purchase order lifecycle processes.

Assist with budget planning, expense tracking, research, and analytical support for procurement-related projects.
Documentation & Knowledge Management

Maintain accurate project notes, databases, and records.

Share team learnings and best practices across teams to enhance project and organizational success.
Responsibilities
Experience
-
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Supplier Management, or related roles.

Hands-on experience in procurement change management, including RFQs, PO price updates, and supplier master data changes.

Proven experience managing supplier capability assessments and implementing supplier-side changes.
-
Exposure to Source-to-Pay processes (supplier onboarding, contract management, purchase order lifecycle).
-
Experience working in cross-functional environments with Procurement, Finance, Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) or equivalent discipline (required).

Master’s degree preferred (MBA, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or related field).

Additional certifications such as PMP, CPSM, CSCP, or other Procurement/Supply Chain/Project Management certifications are an added advantage.
