Position Overview: The Project Director will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex data centre construction projects from inception through completion. This Position requires extensive infrastructure experience managing large-scale, mission-critical facilities with demanding technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities: Strategic Project Leadership
Direct data centre projects valued at $50M-$500M+ from design through commissioning
Lead project teams of 20-100+ personnel including engineers, construction managers, and subcontractors
Serve as primary client interface and senior escalation point
Programme Management
Oversee multiple concurrent data centre projects or complex phased developments
Optimize resources, manage risks, and ensure consistent delivery standards across portfolio
Coordinate interdependencies and balance competing priorities
Technical Infrastructure
Apply expertise in critical systems: power distribution (HV/MV/LV), cooling (CRAC/CRAH, liquid cooling), backup power (generators, UPS), fire suppression, BMS/DCIM
Ensure designs meet industry standards (Uptime Institute Tiers, TIA-942)
Drive constructability reviews, value engineering, and technical risk mitigation
Financial & Commercial Management
Manage project budgets, forecasts, and profitability
Negotiate and administer contracts with contractors and suppliers
Review change orders, claims, and contract variations
Monitor cash flow and financial performance
Stakeholder & Client Management
Build relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities
Manage expectations and facilitate resolution of complex issues
Represent organization in client meetings and industry forums
Risk, Quality & Safety
Identify and mitigate technical, commercial, schedule, and stakeholder risks
Establish quality management systems and commissioning protocols
Champion safety culture and ensure regulatory compliance
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management
Professional registration (PE, CEng, PMP) preferred
15+ years in construction project management
8+ years specifically in data centre or mission-critical infrastructure
Proven track record delivering projects exceeding $50M
Experience with hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data centres
Preferred QualificationsExperience with hyperscale clients (AWS, Microsoft, Google, Meta)
International project experience
Knowledge of sustainability frameworks (LEED, BREEAM)
Familiarity with DfMA and off-site construction methodologies
