Project Engineer

Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage and execute oil & gas projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring delivery within schedule, budget, and quality standards.
• Review and develop instrumentation and control (I&C) design documents including P&IDs, datasheets, specifications, and control philosophies.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (process, mechanical, electrical, civil, and automation) to ensure seamless project execution.
• Prepare technical documentation, review vendor proposals, and participate in technical bid evaluations for instrumentation packages.
• Oversee procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA, field instruments, analyzers, and control valves).
• Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and ensure compliance with project standards and client requirements.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to maintain project objectives.
• Ensure compliance with international codes, standards, and safety regulations (ISA, IEC, API, ATEX/IECEx).
• Participate in HAZOP, SIL assessments, and other safety and risk reviews.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting during construction and commissioning phases.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and vendors regarding instrumentation scope.
• Prepare and present project status reports to management and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 4–5 years of experience in instrumentation and project engineering within the oil & gas / petrochemical industry.
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation systems, control valves, analyzers, PLC/DCS/SCADA systems, and automation integration.
• Hands-on experience with engineering design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SPI/SmartPlant Instrumentation, Aveva, MS Project/Primavera).
• Familiarity with industry standards and codes (ISA, IEC, API, ATEX/IECEx).
• Experience in FAT, SAT, commissioning, and troubleshooting of instrumentation systems.
• Strong project management and organizational skills with ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Commitment to HSE practices and safe project execution.
