Project Engineer

Pay Grade: This is a salaried position
Shift: 1st (6:30 am – 4:00 pm)
Job Description:
Works closely with Sales, customers, and Tooling to develop new parts, and to make improvements or changes to existing parts and related tooling. A Project Engineer is assigned to and responsible for specific customers. Meets with Sales and customers in the preliminary drawing and design phase to offer engineering suggestions for design, suitability of different types of plastic resin, and thermoforming capability. When a new part is ready for production, the Project Engineer works closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and QA to determine the most efficient processes and flow-thru for production and packing.
Specific Duties
- Follow up on the status of new parts in process, including timely communication with Sales and the customer
- Monitor the progress and status of new tooling and fixtures for all assigned projects in process
- Oversee forming of samples thru customer acceptance phase
- Closely direct the launch of new parts into production
- Travel to assigned customers on an as-needed basis
- Accurately maintain bills of material on all parts of assigned customers
- Generate engineering change notices as needed
- Help trouble shoot production and quality problems
- Previous work experience and/or complete in-house GD&T training videos
- Previous work experience and/or on the job experience of the PPAP process and paperwork
- General understanding of Gage R&R process
- Where applicable, is responsible for the storage and accessibility of Customer Quality Manual(s)
Qualifications
B.S. degree in Engineering or related field
Supervision
Reports to the Lead Project Engineer Coordinator or Engineer Manager
