Job Description – Project Engineer (Structural & Piping)
Position: Project Engineer
Experience: 5–8 Years
Reporting To: Project Manager
Job Purpose
The Project Engineer shall be responsible for coordinating and monitoring all structural and piping fabrication activities for the Dixstone FLNG Project. The role involves planning, progress monitoring, material tracking, construction coordination, client reporting, and ensuring timely completion of fabrication activities in accordance with project schedules, quality requirements, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution & Coordination
- Coordinate day-to-day fabrication activities between Structural, Piping, QA/QC, Planning, Procurement, and Construction teams.
- Monitor project progress against approved schedules and identify areas requiring intervention.
- Ensure work fronts are available through effective coordination with engineering, material control, and production teams.
- Participate in daily and weekly progress review meetings with management and clients.
- Follow up on engineering deliverables, material availability, and production priorities.
Structural Fabrication Management
- Monitor structural steel fabrication, assembly, fit-up, welding, and erection activities.
- Review fabrication drawings, MTOs, and IFC drawings.
- Coordinate with production teams to achieve planned fabrication targets.
- Monitor steel consumption and material reconciliation.
- Ensure fabrication activities comply with project specifications and quality requirements.
Piping Fabrication Management
- Review piping isometrics, spool drawings, support drawings, and piping MTOs.
- Monitor piping spool fabrication, welding, NDT, hydrotesting, reinstatement, and preservation activities.
- Coordinate with QA/QC and NDT teams to ensure timely inspections and clearances.
- Track piping material availability and fabrication progress.
- Follow up on punch points and outstanding quality issues.
Planning & Progress Monitoring
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Develop and maintain Excel-based progress monitoring systems.
- Track fabrication quantities, productivity, manpower deployment, and equipment utilization.
- Generate dashboards and management reports using Excel.
- Support recovery plans and acceleration initiatives when required.
Material Management
- Monitor material deliveries against procurement schedules.
- Track material issuance and consumption.
- Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure uninterrupted fabrication activities.
- Prepare material status reports and identify shortages.
Client & Internal Reporting
- Prepare presentations, progress reports, MOMs, and project correspondence.
- Support client meetings and provide status updates on fabrication progress.
- Maintain project trackers for engineering, procurement, fabrication, and quality activities.
Quality & HSE Compliance
- Ensure fabrication activities comply with project specifications, approved procedures, and industry standards.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspections and document submissions.
- Promote safe working practices and compliance with HSE requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5–8 years of experience in Oil & Gas, Offshore, EPC, Modular Fabrication, or FLNG projects.
- Experience in both structural steel and piping fabrication projects is mandatory.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of structural fabrication and piping fabrication processes.
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, piping isometrics, and fabrication drawings.
- Knowledge of welding, NDT, hydrotesting, and quality requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Advanced Level), including:
- Pivot Tables
- XLOOKUP / VLOOKUP
- SUMIFS / COUNTIFS
- Dashboard Preparation
- Progress Tracking Sheets
- Data Analysis and Reporting
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Project and Power BI will be an added advantage.
