As a Fortress Project Manager–Affordable, you’ll play a hands-on role in ensuring the success of new Affordable Housing clients transitioning onto Fortress. Acting as an extension of the client’s team, you’ll take ownership of gathering, organizing, and validating the data, documents, and configurations needed for implementation so that the client can focus on their day-to-day operations while Fortress handles the technical side.
You’ll collaborate closely with the Fortress Onboarding and Implementation team, serving as the bridge between the client’s internal resources and Fortress’s project milestones. You’ll be deeply involved in affordable-specific components, as well as general operations, accounting, and coordination with third-party partners, to ensure accuracy, completeness, and on-time delivery.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as an extension of the client team during onboarding, helping gather and organize all data, documents, and configuration details needed for successful implementation.
- Partner with Fortress’s Onboarding Implementation Specialist and Property Onboarding Specialist to ensure all project milestones and deliverables are met on schedule.
- Act as the primary client-side coordinator, tracking down outstanding items (e.g., certifications, property data, historical accounting data) and ensuring they’re formatted and submitted correctly.
- Collaborate with the client’s internal staff to translate their operational processes, affordable program rules, and accounting workflows into accurate system setups within Fortress.
- Understand Affordable Housing program requirements (LIHTC, HUD, RD, HOME, etc.) and ensure that data collected aligns with compliance and reporting standards.
- Coordinate with third-party partners as needed, ensuring all integrations, accounting processes, and compliance components are aligned prior to go-live.
- Support data validation and system testing efforts, working alongside Fortress and client teams to confirm accuracy and resolve discrepancies prior to go-live.
- Maintain organized documentation, tracking sheets, and project status updates to provide visibility across all stakeholders.
- Anticipate potential risks or blockers in client readiness and proactively work to resolve them before they impact timelines.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the client, providing structure, accountability, and expertise throughout onboarding.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of onboarding processes by identifying gaps or opportunities to simplify the client experience.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
SPECIFIC EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years’ experience in Affordable Housing required
- Prior experience implementing property management software systems
- Project management or client onboarding experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience preferred
- Strong multitasking abilities
- Patience and resilience when handling complex or challenging cases
- Ability to present information effectively to diverse audiences and remain calm under pressure
- Familiarity with help desk software and remote support tools
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and deadline management skills
- Proactive, results-oriented approach with the ability to work effectively within a team

- Vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Temperature in the workplace is typically moderate, though the ability to withstand seasonal cold and heat of the outdoors is necessary.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Travel up to 10-20% of the time for customer trainings /events and/or strategic in-person meetings
